Home Communication Week 3

Welcome to Week 3!

This week Vikki, myself and all of the Year 8's are heading to Wellington for a fabulous week! PLEASE NOTE - ALL YEAR 8 STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED AT SCHOOL ON MONDAY AS THERE WILL BE PREPARATIONS AND FINAL NOTICES TO GIVE OUT TO THEM REGARDING CAMP WELLINGTON ON THIS DAY!

The Year 7's will be working with Linda Baran, who will be engaging their brains, in the area of Year 8 Leadership in readiness for next year! They will be looking at the following...
1. Styles of Leadership
2. The responsibilities of a Year 8
3. Year 8 Project Areas for 2019
4. Setting up for success in a Year 8 Leadership job AND position of responsibility
5. Tuakana Tiena relationships with Whakarewa and their passion projects.
6. Setting goals - Time permitting we may watch a movie related to goal setting, 'Rudy', which is rated PG (set in an American High School, minor language)

They will continue to have Nick Burson taking Maths on Tuesday and Wednesday.

EMERGING LEADERS -
All Year 7's are invited to bring their EMERGING LEADERS Pathways Folder to school on Monday, as they will have some time with Mrs Morrie to sign off tasks that are done, in addition to complete tasks and/or planning.

SUN HATS -
This term is a 'Sun hats' term, so please ensure these are at school ready to go each day. Year 8's who have earned their caps, are more than welcome to wear these as a sunhat. We have lovely new shade sails going in at school, and these will be the areas, for those who don't wear their sun hats, to sit in.

CELL PHONES AT SCHOOL -
We are reminding all children that as per their ICT Digital Device Agreement, they are required to sign their cell phones in at the Office, on arrival at school in the morning. If children are found to be flouting this agreement, they will be expected to leave cell phones at home indefinitely. Your support in this area is appreciated.

YEAR 8 PARENTS -
Remember to pop your name into the google doc that was sent to you in the holidays! Thank you so much to those who have done this already! We are needing more parents to assist with the 'pack down' of the MPF on the Tuesday, so please consider if you can help out in this way.

Also, don't forget the baby photo of your darling Year 8 rascal!  Please ensure these are sent to us via email ASAP as a JPEG (photo) or if you prefer bring it to school in a NAMED envelope and we will scan this for you.

Year 8 Dinner CLASSIC CARS -
If you, or anyone you know, would be happy to donate some time on MONDAY 10th DECEMBER to pick up our Year 8's from a local property to transport them to their Graduation Dinner, can you please let either Vikki or Kristie know.

LOOKING FORWARD -
It is fair to say, that when we come back from camp, Term 4 will really 'ramp' up! Some things you may like to have in the back of your mind, as things we will need parent help for in the near future are...
* Zones Athletics Competition - 12 November
* Aspire Fun Day - 10th December - a notice will come home in week 4
* Production preparation

Have a lovely weekend see you next week.
Kristie, Vikki, Lynn.
