Week 3 Home Communication

Welcome to Week 3 - LEADERSHIP WEEK in Aspire!

WOW - what an amazing Aspire Team Building Experience we had last week! The weather was perfect, the activities were challenging, and we had a whole lot of fun!

A HUGE thank you to all of the amazing parents who helped us during this time, it was wonderful to be a part of the experience with you! Thank you also, to our wonderful hosts Belinda and Matt Stott, who kindly opened up Hibburt Park to the Aspire Invasion - we had a blast!

Look out for your child's SeeSaw post later this week, that shares their learning with you.

LEADERSHIP WEEK -

Vikki and I have developed a super Leadership programme for all of our Aspire students to participate in this week. Each year level will have their own focus, and there are times when both Year 7 and Year 8 students will be learning alongside each other.

By the end of this week, all of our students will know their personal strengths and areas to develop under the 'Student Leadership Challenge' programme, and they will have developed their own personal definition of Leadership. Specifically, the Year 7's will have a clear understanding of their role as leaders in our school this year, in addition to the requirements of 'Emerging Leaders' pathways programme. The Year 8's will have applied for their jobs around the school, decided their Leadership Project focus, and will share their vision for themselves as a leader for 2018, to all Teachers, Year 8 parents, and their peers.

The Year 8 Leadership Speeches will happen at 3:30pm in the MPF on FRIDAY 16th FEBRUARY. We ask that all Year 8 students have a parent representative in attendance.
PLEASE NOTE - at the conclusion of this meeting, you will have information regarding Camp Wellington shared with you.

LAUNCH DAY -

On Wednesday we will Launch our Inquiry Focus for the year, with the focus being IDENTITY and BELONGING. All students will rotate around a series of workshops in Buddy Groups, with Aspire being tasked with their first official leadership role of gathering their buddy group, and leading them through the activities for the day.

SWIMMING -

Our swimming programme is an important part of our curriculum, and all students are expected to participate in it. We have our school swimming sports coming up in the next few weeks, and we are working towards improving our fitness for this. Please either email or send a note, if your child has a medical condition that will prevent them swimming for a short amount of time.

EMAILING -

A friendly reminder to please always email BOTH teachers when emailing. It really does make our lives easier, and also ensures your email is read and responded to promptly.

READING -

Please remind your child to pack the NOVEL they are reading into their bag each day. DEAR (drop everything and read), is a firm fixture in our class programme, and we will ask HARD questions of students, if we sense this time is being wasted. It is not good enough for students to 'go tot the library' to get a 'book' - they need to be continuing their reading that they are doing at home.
